The Little Café, a growing and vibrant restaurant brand in Kampala, is seeking a highly experienced and disciplined Executive Chef to lead its kitchen operations. This role is designed for a senior professional with proven experience in busy restaurant environments who can run the kitchen with authority, creativity, and an uncompromising commitment to standards.
Menu Development & Quality
Design and execute innovative, customer-focused menus aligned to The Little Café’s brand.
Ensure consistent taste, portion control, and presentation across all dishes.
Regularly review menus to incorporate trends while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Operations & Cost Control
Oversee food preparation, cooking, and timely service in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
Manage inventory, supplier relations, and stock rotation to minimize waste.
Control food and labor costs to meet profitability targets.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff to maintain discipline, teamwork, and efficiency.
Develop work schedules and enforce punctuality and accountability.
Build a high-performance culture where excellence is the norm.
Compliance & Safety
Guarantee compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment at all times.
Brand Alignment
Work closely with management to ensure the kitchen reflects the restaurant’s identity and vision.
Support new product launches, promotions, and menu upgrades.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in professional kitchens, with at least 3 years as an Executive Chef/Head Chef in a restaurant.
Strong background in casual dining or chain restaurants (experience in brands like CJ’s, Java House, KFC, or similar is a strong advantage).
Proven ability to design menus, control costs, and manage high-volume service.
Firm, results-oriented leadership style with the ability to enforce discipline.
Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards.
