Reporting to: Head Teacher

Job Purpose
To facilitate effective teaching and learning of History using the CBC framework, promoting historical awareness, critical thinking, civic responsibility, and appreciation of cultural heritage among learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver learner-centered History lessons in line with CBC curriculum designs.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and lesson notes aligned to CBC learning outcomes.
• Facilitate discussions on historical events, governance, and cultural heritage.
• Organize field trips to historical sites and museums.
• Use interactive and participatory teaching strategies.

Assessment & Evaluation

• Conduct continuous assessment (CA) as required under CBC.
• Develop and use assessment tools for History.
• Maintain accurate learner progress records.
• Prepare and submit learner assessment reports.
• Provide remedial support for learners with difficulties.

Curriculum Implementation

• Implement KICD-approved History curriculum.
• Integrate PCIs such as governance, peace, and cultural diversity.
• Integrate Values Education.
• Use ICT tools to enhance teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education (History specialization).
• Registration with Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
• CBC training certification is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical and instructional skills.
• ICT literacy skills desirable.
