Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Department: Finance
Reports To: Accountant / Finance Manager
Role Purpose
To support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, processing day-to-day transactions, and assisting with reporting to ensure effective financial management and compliance.
Main Responsibilities
1. Financial Records & Reporting
o Update and maintain accounting ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
o Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
o Process supplier invoices, staff reimbursements, and payments.
o Prepare client invoices and follow up on collections.
3. Banking & Reconciliations
o Post daily banking transactions and carry out bank reconciliations.
o Manage petty cash and ensure supporting documentation is properly filed.
4. Payroll & Statutory Compliance
o Support payroll processing and ensure statutory deductions (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, VAT, etc.) are accurately captured.
o Ensure adherence to financial procedures and regulatory requirements.
5. Audit & Documentation
o Provide audit support by preparing and sharing required financial documents.
o Maintain a systematic filing system for financial and administrative records.
6. Team & Administrative Support
o Work closely with suppliers, clients, and internal teams on financial matters.
o Perform any other finance-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Progress in CPA (minimum Section II) or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
• 1–2 years of accounting or finance experience
• Knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or ERP systems).
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office.
