HR practices have greatly evolved. There is a clear difference between the traditional HR and the new HR practices. Previously the focus of HR has been on ensuring compliance and decreasing liability for the organization. However with the emergence of new practices in HR the objectives have changed significantly. The new practices now focus on maximizing the value of the employees. And the COVID 19 situation has amplified the need to bring this transition faster.

The breakout of COVID-19 has rapidly changed the way we conduct our business. The current corporate climate is unlike any before. The dynamic changes in the economy have forced many organizations to invest in their current existing labour force and to nurture talents for new skills that are taking center stage and defining business world over. As skills required to run a business successful continue to evolve we are gradually proceeding towards a world dominated by skills rather than hierarchy.  

Now more than ever before it is important to align business goals and objectives with clear talent development strategies in order to accommodate for changing business dynamics. How an organization manages to match skills with a specific business goal will directly impact the way a business thrives and succeeds in the current COVID-19 era.

The role of HR therefore in this transition is critical. The Human Resource leaders need to come up with clear talent strategies which will be in line with the overall business strategy. The need for the right talent will impact all aspects of the business. It is also important that we identify talent needs across all functions as customers are increasingly looking for easy user interface, efficient customer service and pleasant experience.

Therefore there is need to identify technologies and platforms that are powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning and virtual reality which will create value for the clients and also equip organizations to invest in the right kind of skills/ talents.

Call it design Thinking for talent buildup, but it is irrefutable that aligning business and talent strategy is a holistic approach to grow businesses. If we manage to achieve synergy between the two then the sky is definitely the limit.
